Betfair enables gamblers to choose their own odds and bet against each other, even after an event has started. Betfair claims more than 5 million transactions a day and 300 bets a second. Additionally, Betfair’s established gaming products include Betfair Poker, Betfair Casino and a number of exchange-enabled games.

In order to avoid any potential legal issues with the United States, Betfair does not accept American credit cards.

Launched in 2000, Betfair is a profitable and debt-free company with annual revenues exceeding £180 million. Softbank bought a 23% interest in Betfair for $600M in February of 2006, implying a valuation of $2.6 billion. Total funding is reportedly $679 million.
