The process undertaken by Amyris results in reducing lifecycle emissions by 80% or more compared to petroleum fuels. Amyris plans to make its first fuel, a renewable diesel, commercially available as early as 2010. The company then plans to commercialize a renewable jet fuel as early as 2012.

Amyris has reportedly received $123 million in funding from Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, TPG Biotech and DAG Ventures.
